If you are starting a warrior or want to optimize your character for fast leveling, PvP or PvE combat, you need a warrior guide to keep track of all the important aspects of your warrior.

My warrior guide will help you to focus on all the relevant aspects that you absolutely have to know about:

1. The Race

Optimizing your Warrior starts right here, when you choose your race. Some people say it doesn’t make a big different, but we know better, right?

Take the Orc for example… Blood Fury is a racial ability that increases your damage for a few seconds. If this was actually a talent, every Warrior would spec it ASAP. Why not get it for FREE by choosing the right race?

2. The Talent Build

Warriors have different options, depending on what you are trying to achieve. If you want to be a PvP champion you will go for a different talent build than a tank. Here are the talent trees and how you can use them:

Arms – Focuses on slow, powerful 2h weapons and lots of abilities that let you make an instant attack with that weapon. Great for leveling and PvP!

Fury – Dual-wielding ftw. This build focuses on dual-wielding two 1h and later two 2h weapons to deal consistently high damage. Perfect for leveling or being an off-tank in raids!

3. The Glyphs

Now, Glyphs give you a little bonus to your skills and you should never forget to get the best glyph for your level. WoW is not about “one big bonus” that makes you a good or a bad warrior, it’s all the little bonuses piled up that give you your power.

4. The Attributes and Stats

No warrior guide is complete without taking a look at the most important stats for a warrior. Now, the stats that matter the most are linked to your goal: If you want to level faster and deal more damage, strength and critical hit rating are most important.

For dual-wielders, your hit rating becomes more important and if you want to play as a tank, you have to focus on entirely different attributes… make sure you know what you want to accomplish and find out which attribute gives you the largest boost.

5. The Questing Add-On

If you are leveling your warrior from 1-80, an in-game warrior guide is a must-have! If you haven’t heard about those in-game guides: There are add-ons that streamline your questing path and tell you step-by-step what to do to ding 80 as soon as possible.

If you don’t want to waste hours on stumbling through the world or doing junk-quests that give you little or no reward for your time and effort, I highly recommend you to get an in-game Warrior guide as soon as possible.

“How to spec my Warrior for quick leveling?”

If this question is on your mind I can give you an answer right away.

When you hit level 10 and can start to spend talent points, there are only two alternatives. You can either start with the Fury or the Arms talent tree. Now, every good Warrior guide will tell you that both the Arms and Fury build are viable for leveling, right?

But there is one major difference between them. Look at the first talents that you can get your hands on. While the Arms tree offer you talents that immediately boost your leveling power, the Fury tree gives you only minor advantages or talents that become powerful later on but won’t help you much right now.

In my opinion, the Fury tree starts lifting off around level 30-40. If you don’t want to play with a talent build that doesn’t support you much for about thirty levels I highly recommend you to start spending your talent points in the Arms tree and aim for the Arms Warrior leveling spec.

If you don’t want to think about leveling builds at all, you might want to take a look at in-game leveling guide. They not only provide you with the most efficient, streamlined questing path from level 1-80, some even have an ingame-talent advisor.

Imagine you never having to worry about your talents again – every time you level up, your in-game talent advisor will automatically spend the new point in the most efficient manner to optimize your leveling speed.

So, if you are asking yourself: “How to spec my Warrior for quick leveling” the answer is: Stick to the Arms tree for the first 40 levels and then switch to a build of your choice. If you want quick results, I recommend an in-game leveling.

3.3 Fury Warrior PvP Spec

Here’s a new PvP spec for patch 3.3: The 3.3 Fury Warrior PvP Spec 18/53/0.

It optimizes your mobility with Piercing Howl and the Hamstring glyph. This way, hardly any opponent will get out of your range. Get the Glyph: Intercept if you want to become even more efficient against ranged classes and casters.

Here’s the build itself:

And this is how it should look like:

3.3 Fury Warrior PvP Spec

Playing the 3.3 Fury Warrior PvP Spec

Playing a Fury Warrior in PvP is not easy but can be very rewarding.

The most important aspect is the combination of your skills and abilities and when to use them. It takes much more than the raw talent build to become a champion in the arena or on the battlegrounds.

If you don’t know how to counter every class, every team combination, every tactic, PvP will be very frustrating. And I know how hard it is to master all of your abilities. When you enter the arena you have to make decision in the blink of an eye and even a small mistake will wipe your whole team.

Fortunately you can become an arena champion by taking advantage of the PvP strategies of experienced players who know the ins and outs of Warrior PvP.

Warrior Guide 2h WoW

If someone came to me to ask: “How to spec my warrior for quick leveling” I knew exactly what to answer: The Arms Warrior spec! It’s all about mastering the use of a great 2h weapon. If you actually have the above question, read this warrior guide: 2h wow weapons for the arms warrior.

Let me explain to you why slow 2h weapon are superior for leveling. First, let’s take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of slow 2h weapons:

Pro

  • Higher stats than 1h weapons
  • Much higher DPS than 1h weapon
  • High damage per hit

Contra

  • Strikes slow = Each miss/dodge counts double

Now you will probably say: “Wait a minute, it doesn’t count if the weapon deals high damage each strike, the DPS will stay the same”. And you are half-right! Normally the DPS wouldn’t be different if the attack speed was fast or slow.

But the beautiful thing about the arms tree is that there are plenty of skills that give you another strike. An additional strike, a bonus attack will deal the damage that your weapon deals. That means that you actually have the best of both worlds: A high damage/strike and lots of strikes to utilize it.

Now, there are many different 2h weapons and they also have advantages and disadvantages depending on your talent build and your race. So let’s head on to the next section…

Warrior Guide: 2h WoW Weapons For The Arms Warrior

1. Maces

Each of your attacks can ignore up to 15% of your opponents armor if you spend 5 points on Mace Specialization. Humans also get a bonus of 3 points to their expertise.

2h Maces are great to increase your overall DPS, but since you will not get an increased crit chance from your talent build, you should only choose maces if you have at least 30% critical strike chance.

2. Swords

Gives you a certain chance to hit your target twice. Again, humans have an advantage here due to their Sword Specialization. 2h Swords are less reliable but can synergize with your strategy nonetheless. If you want to use a 2h sword, make sure you have a really slow rate of attack to make each extra strike count.

3. Axes and Poleaxes

The talent specialization gives you +5% crit chance and Orcs benefit from an increased expertise. In my opinion, axes are the most reliable of all 2h weapons since the crit chance adds to your overall chance to strike critical hits.

But of course you have to take your race into account. For example: The best 2h weapon for Arms Warrior Orc might be the axe while it might be a Mace for the Arm Warrior Human.

I don’t want to start discussing about actual items and which might be the best for you. New items change rapidly and the “best 2h weapon” always – ALWAYS – depends on the rest of your gear. Some weapons are better than others but each one can suck if it doesn’t match your equipment strategy.

That’s it. I hope I was able to give you an overview in my Warrior Guide: 2h WoW weapons for the Arms Warrior!

Arms Warrior PvP Guide

Arms Warriors are a popular choice in PvP. This Arms Warrior PvP guide will give you an overview over the most important aspects of playing your character in player versus player combat.

1) Apply Battle Shout and Commanding Shout in every fight! The damage and health is a must. Especially in the arena, Commanding Shout is highly recommended.

2) Your talent build should always compromise these following essential talents:

  • Mortal Strike
  • Improved Overpower
  • Deep Wounds
  • Impale
  • Iron Will
  • Taste for Blood
  • Second Wind
  • Unrelenting Assault
  • Juggernaut
  • Sudden Death
  • Bladestorm
  • Your weapon specialization

3) Heroic Strike: The Arms setup makes Heroic Strike less effective. Since the skill does not trigger an instant, free attack, it’s often wiser to save the rage for another Mortal Strike. Especially since Heroic Strike does not take your slow weapon attack rate into account. There is one combination though, that makes Heroic Strike very effective. If your timing is good, use Heroic Strike and then follow up with Mortal Strike. Your regular attack and the free attack will hit nearly at the same time, producing massive burst damage.

4) When you are NOT fighting caster classes, use your rage on abilities like Slam, Sunder Armor and Demoralizing Shout while your Mortal Strike is on cooldown.

5) When fighting caster classes, save your rage so you are always able to interrupt their spells.

6) Arms Warriors’ choice of weapons:

  • Maces: This specialization increases your overall DPS and reduces the armor of your targets. The armor reduction is especially useful against cloth armor targets. You should have at least 30% critical strike chance to choose this specialization.
  • Axes and Poleaxes: The +5% critical chance makes for higher burst damage but is also less reliable and predicable. Orcs get an extra bonus to axes and therefore a great advantage when using these weapons.
  • Swords: The chance to get an extra attack is basically worth +5% of your damage. Humans have an expertise bonus from their racial ability here.

7) Melee range and movement: There are three different kinds of movement impairing effects.

  • Stun – Prevents your Warrior from doing anything
  • Snare – Slows down your movement speed
  • Root – Keeps you from moving at all

It’s necessary that you have a counter against every kind of movement impairing effects. One way is to choose a race that has a build-in defense mechanism, like the gnome (Escape Artist). If your warrior can not move, you can neither get into melee range nor flee from battle, thus rendering you useless for the combat.

8 ) To get into melee range there are some abilities that your Warrior can use to move yourself closer to the target or prevent your target from getting away:

  • Charge
  • Intercept
  • Intervene
  • Hamstring
  • Piercing Howl

Make sure you are have prepared at least some of those skills and can use them by pressing a button.

This Arms Warrior PvP guide should give an impression of what the PvP combat is all about. I hope you enjoyed it – now get some front-line experience!

2010 Warrior Guide

If you are looking for an up-to-date 2010 Warrior Guide for the Fury Spec that works with patch 3.3 you have come to the right place.

This Fury spec is viable for both raiding and leveling, although the focus clearly lies on Raiding/Heroics.

2010 Warrior Guide – Fury Spec Hierarchy

As with every spec, some abilities are more important than others. But instead of giving you a simple attack rotation, I want to show you the Skill Hierarchy for the build.

If you are unfamiliar with Hierarchies: Always try to use the most important skill. If that one is on cooldown, use the second most important and so on. Ideally all your skills should be used whenever possible, starting with the top priority ability.

If you do things right, you should generate enough rage to actually spam all the spells, but in case your don’t have enough rage, only use those priority skills and neglect the less important ones.

Single target attack hierarchy:

  1. Whirlwind
  2. Bloodthirst
  3. Slam – In case Bloodsurge procs
  4. Heroic Strike

Multi target attack hierarchy:

  1. Whirlwind
  2. Bloodthirst
  3. Cleave

If fighting multiple targets, spam Cleave like you mean it!

The Talent Points

2010 Warrior Guide

The talent build is a full DPS spec and should be played as such.

When it comes to major Glyphs, my 2010 Warrior Guide for the Fury spec recommends the following Glyphs for the best results:

  • Glyph of Cleaving
  • Glyph of Whirlwind
  • Glyph of Heroic Strike

I guess it’s obvious that Whirlwind is one of the Fury Warriors most important skills. Reducing the cooldown by 2 seconds really helps to further boost your DPS. Glyph of Heroic Strike makes the skill spammable.

I hope you are now up-to-date with my 2010 Warrior guide and got some value from it – have fun dealing damage with the Fury build!

Arms Warrior Leveling Build

This guide is all about the Arms Warrior leveling build – one of the most efficient ways to level your Warrior 1-80 in the least amount of time. First of all I have to add that this guide is written in 2010 – when I browse the forums I find a lot of out-dated builds that sometimes are pre-WotLK and even pre-BC. I promise that this one is new and up-to-date.

Before we hit the talent points, I want to show you why the Arms Warrior leveling build is so popular and effective.

The build focuses on a very slow, two handed weapon. It’s the one thing that will never change, no matter how you spend your talent points. The whole Arms tree focuses on exploiting the slow attack speed of your weapon.

Why is this so important? Weapons always deal the same DPS. That means if you only have half the attack speed, each hit deals double damage.

Now, the Arms Warrior leveling build focuses on adding skills that give you additional, instant attacks with your full weapon damage. See where this goes? Your weapon damage is huge because it’s so slow, but still you are going to deal a lot of hits thanks to your talents.

Now, here’s how to spend your talent points to get the popular (54/17/0) Arms Warrior leveling build:

As a bonus, I want to recommend some Glyphs that are great to supplement your Arms Warrior build to increase your leveling speed:

Glyph of Mortal StrikeIncreases the damage of your Mortal Strike ability by 10%.

Mortal Strike is one of your most important skills. Every bonus is great!

Glyph of Rending - Increases the duration of your Rend ability by 6 sec.

The Arms Warrior leveling build relies to some extend on your rending damage.

Glyph of Execution - Your Execute ability deals damage as if you had 10 additional rage.

Always relevant.

I hope you got the idea and have lots of fun leveling with your Arms Warrior leveling build. It’s one of the most popular builds and a tried-and-true method to get from level 1-80 really fast.

Warrior Twinking Guide

This warrior twinking guide is all about leveling your warrior alt 1-80 the fastest way possible. I want to give you some very important tips that are essential if you want to get over with the leveling and always get the best xp/hour.

The Fastest Way To Gather XP

In my opinion, this is the most important basic about leveling. It sounds simple but many players get this totally wrong and screw up. If you don’t want to end like them, read on:

The fastest way to level up is to do quests – and you do them on your own!

In the past, grinding your way up to lvl 80 was a viable way. But Blizzard has decided that they want player to do quests and increased the xp you get for completing quests. That’s why my warrior twinking guide recommends: Don’t grind mobs for experience.

Also you shouldn’t join groups or visit instances if you want the best xp/hour rate. Yes, playing with your friends is fun. I love to visit instances with my guild mates. But the faster you get to level 80, the sooner you can visit the endgame instances with your warrior twink, fight in the arena and the lvl 80 battlegrounds!

Use The Arms Leveling Spec

The Arms talent build is probably the most efficient way to level your alt. When it comes to damage output, Arms and Fury are both great. But the Arms build focuses on damage spikes while the Fury spec deals damage more consistently.

You are going to fight quest-mobs, not boss-mobs. That means, between each fight you will have a few seconds. You can deal burst damage to the mob and then wait for your cooldowns to be ready while you regen health. When it comes to killing quest-mobs, burst damage is better than consistent damage.

Follow The Perfect Questing Path

What is the perfect questing path? It’s the most efficient route to take to complete as many quests in one go as possible. That means you don’t travel back and forth. You do only the quests that reward you with the best xp/hour.

There are two ways to do this. First option is to use a free text guide – they describe every quest in detail, but they are large and often just give you an information overload. And you also have to print them out (100+ pages…) or alt-tab back and forth and browse them while you are playing.

The second option – and the one that my warrior twinking guide highly recommends – is to get yourself and ingame leveling guide addon. Those in-game guides give you a step-by-step blueprint to level 1-80 the fastest way possible.

Warrior Glyph Guide

Ever wondered which Glyphs fit each warrior spec? This first part of my warrior glyph guide is all about the 3 different PvE specs: tanking with Protection or dealing damage with Fury or Arms.

Don’t hesitate to switch your Glyphs when you want to re-spec your warrior.

Now, let’s take a look at the talent builds and the according glyphs:

Warrior Glyph Guide: Tanking (Protection)

Glyph of Blocking – Increases your block value by 10% for 10 sec after using your Shield Slam ability.

This major Glyph is a must-have for ANY tank. Your block rating is one of the most important stats for tanks right now and you can basically improve it by 10% all the time.

Glyph of Sunder Armor – Your Sunder Armor ability affects a second nearby target.

Sunder Armor is especially useful for AoE tanking. It gets even better with Glyph of Devastate.

Glyph of Devastate – Your Devastate ability now applies two stacks of Sunder Armor.

If you use both Sunder Armor and Devastate you apply 2 stacks on 2 targets – that means you get 4 stacks for the price of only one – this makes AoE tanking easy.

Glyph of Revenge - After using Revenge, your next Heroic Strike costs no rage.

If you tank single targets (and therefore don’t need Sunder Armor) this Glyph will save you rage for other, more important abilities than Heroic Strike.

Warrior Glyph Guide: Fury DPS

Glyph of Heroic Strike – You gain 10 rage when you critically strike with your Heroic Strike ability.

Great for single-target situations in which you don’t use AoE abilities.

Glyph of Cleaving – Increases the number of targets your Cleave hits by 1.

This is self-explaining. In AoE situations, use this major Glyph instead of Heroic Strike.

Glyph of Execution – Your Execute ability deals damage as if you had 10 additional rage.

Glyph of Execution boosts your damage or keeps up your damage if you spend the rage on other skills.

Glyph of Whirlwind – Reduces the cooldown of your Whirlwind by 2 sec.

The third Glyph that I suggest in my warrior glyph guide for Fury DPS specs. Whirlwind is a very important skill and 2 seconds can make a big difference in tight situations or to max your character.
